Philip Turnbull is a distinguished accounting professional and qualified accountant with over 30 years of experience. As Chief Executive, he leads AIA’s strategic direction and ensures operational excellence across all areas of the organisation.
He oversees the development and delivery of our qualifications, professional standards, and global reputation. In doing so, he ensures AIA remains at the forefront of the international accountancy profession. Reporting directly to the Council, Philip guides the execution of our business plan while championing our core values: integrity, customer focus, excellence, collaboration, and social responsibility.
With in-depth industry knowledge and a proactive leadership style, Philip fosters innovation, builds stakeholder trust, and ensures our services evolve to meet the changing needs of members worldwide.
In addition to his AIA membership, Philip holds fellowships with several respected bodies, including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FCPA), and the Chartered Institute for IT. He also serves as Treasurer and Company Secretary of the Commonwealth Fashion Council, reflecting his wider commitment to ethical leadership and corporate responsibility.
Under Philip’s stewardship, AIA has expanded global partnerships, enhanced educational offerings, and strengthened its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. He actively contributes to the profession through roles such as judging the Accounting Excellence Awards and advising Northumbria University.
