Credit for Prior Learning
AIA offers exemptions to help students avoid repeating content they’ve already covered through previous qualifications. This ensures your learning journey is efficient and focused.
- Exemptions are awarded when you register as a student.
- They are based on your academic and professional qualifications.
- Each exemption is subject to an exemption fee.
- Exemptions are not available for any papers at Professional Level 2.
If your qualification isn’t listed in the exemption database, it will be assessed individually. Students following the Recognised Professional Qualification (RPQ) can apply for exemptions for relevant qualifications completed within the last five years.

AIA welcomes applications from Higher Education Institutions worldwide that offer relevant qualifications and are recognised by a government regulator or standard-setting body.
We also accept applications from international institutions whose degree programmes are recognised by their local professional accountancy body.
To be considered, institutions must demonstrate that their programmes meet the learning outcomes of the AIA Professional Qualification.
