Ernest Anaba Akapale

Ernest Anaba Akapale brings strategic finance expertise and public sector insight to AIA Ghana’s Management Committee. He holds an MSc in Accounting and Finance from Accra Business School and a BA in Integrated Business Studies from the University for Development Studies. He also earned a Diploma in Integrated Management Studies. In addition to AIA, he is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG).

Ernest began his career in 2017 as an Accounts Officer at the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) in Jirapa. In 2021, he earned a promotion to Assistant Accountant and moved to the Savannah Regional Office to support the Regional Accountant. In June 2023, he became a substantive Accountant, overseeing the Upper East Regional Accounts Unit until December 2023.

Currently, Ernest works in the finance unit of Lively Minds Ghana, a non-profit focused on preparing rural pre-schoolers for school success and community development. In this role, he applies his public finance and governance experience to support an organisation with strong social impact.

Ernest’s public sector financial leadership means he brings robust internal control and governance skills to AIA Ghana. His track record overseeing regional financial operations enhances the committee’s insight into regulatory compliance and standards. Additionally, his work at Lively Minds provides him with first-hand perspective on donor-funded financial accountability and not-for-profit financial systems.

His academic background, professional memberships, and strategic roles empower him to support AIA Ghana’s CPD initiatives and advocacy. He understands both private sector roles and public agency environments, enabling him to contribute effectively to policymaking and member development. Moreover, his cross-sector experience aligns with AIA Ghana’s goals to strengthen financial reporting, advance IFRS adoption, and foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
